The WTM Algiers’ IWD hackathon is mainly associated with university students from different technical backgrounds : designers, programmers, ethical hackers, software engineers and even people from non-STEM educational fields are welcome to participate in the festival. It is a place where like-minded people come together to "hack" innovative ideas and build realistic, technical and implementable solutions.

The goal of an IWD hackathon is to come up with a solution related to one of the sub-themes of the edition during the event and to create usable and functional software or hardware products at the end of the event.
